Transcript: Persuading an Advisor

I don't remember any deep devastating conflict. I was very lucky with my adviser I think. I can think of an episode in which I had to convince him, persuade him to give me project. There was this idea that he came up with, and I was very excited about it. I wanted to work on it, but I sensed he wasn't sure I could do it. He wasn't sure I was strong enough to do it. So I remember I insisted with him. I asked him to give me this project and, after thinking it over, he agreed, and it worked out really well. It was the project that defined what my research is today, so I think it was a turning point. I'm very proud of that because I think, in part, it was my decision.
